GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CDOT)-Per the official Twitter of CDOT, Interstate 70 is closed in both directions near Loma, Colo., roughly 18 miles northwest of Grand Junction and 15 miles east of the Utah-Colorado border because of a fire.
The Island Skipper Fire has caused the closure and motorists in the area are advised to use U.S. 50 and U.S. 6 as alternate routes.
In the general area, even on the alternate routes, CDOT cautions motorists to drive cautiously because of possible high winds raging throughout the rest of the afternoon and resultant poor visibility.
