Governor, Others React To Live Streamed Execution Plans

(Salt Lake City, UT) — Governor Spencer Cox and other state officials are reacting to plans to live-stream an execution. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth says the execution of Nidal Hasan by firing squad will be public. The former Army doctor killed 12 soldiers, one civilian, and an unborn baby in November 2009 at Fort Hood in Texas. Cox responded to the news by reposting a comment made by author Tim Carney: “Televising the execution is barbaric. It will coarsen the culture.” Lieutenant Governor Deidre Henderson called the decision “disturbing.” Republican U.S. Senator John Curtis also spoke out against live-streaming the execution, and urged Hegseth to reconsider.
