(Salt Lake City, UT) — Governor Cox has signed a bill into law making it easier to ban books. The bill was one of 72 signed. It now takes less than ten-percent of Utah Schools, including charters, to trigger a statewide book ban. The ban can be appealed if the Utah State Board of Education convenes within 60 days but the districts and charters can remove the book regardless. Multiple education advocates asked for the bill to be vetoed. The law goes into effect July first.
