(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah First Lady Abby Cox is facing weeks of recovery this spring after she had spinal surgery yesterday. The governor’s office released a statement saying the First Lady had surgery to remove degenerative discs in her neck which had caused weeks of debilitating pain. The First Lady received her surgery at the University of Utah Hospital. Governor Spencer Cox had been scheduled to meet with an International Olympic Committee commission in Salt Lake City but that schedule was cleared for the family emergency.
