(Denver, CO) — A lawsuit over allowing girls to play football at Utah high schools is getting a new life thanks to a federal appeals court. Denver’s Tenth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled recently that a lower court judge made an incorrect ruling in dismissing the lawsuit. Seven Utah girls seeking to play football filed suit against their school districts, saying they were denied equal opportunity to play the sport under a federal law called Title Nine. The suit was dismissed, but the appeals court said the judge should have certified the case as a class action. The case will be returned to the lower court for further consideration.
