Just before 1:00 p.m. on July 15, there was a two car collision on SR-118 and 1500 South near Walmart in Richfield. A Nissan Sentra driven by Richfield resident Tyler J Walbeck age 42 was stopped on 1500 South attempting to cross main street towards Walmart. A Dodge Durango was traveling South on Richfield Main Street in the same area and for an unknown reason the Nissan started across SR-118 directly in front of the Dodge when it was struck on the driver’s door.

Both vehicles traveled South after the impact and came to a rest a short distance from the point of impact. Walbeck was killed on impact. The driver of the Dodge suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Sevier Valley Hospital. Both vehicles had a passenger, under 18 years old, that suffered injuries that were non life threatening, and were both transported to Sevier Valley Hospital.
