After more than an hour of public discussion, the Ephraim Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously on Jan. 14 to approve the Southtowne Homes Subdivision. The decision came after residents raised concerns about traffic safety, drainage issues, and the future of the long-time Southtowne Theatre on Main Street. The approved plan includes demolition of the theater at 687 South Main Street to make way for new housing, marking a significant change to the city’s downtown area.
