Around 6:45 p.m. on July 28, authorities in Beaver County responded to the spillway at the Minersville Reservoir where a man had entered the water to cool off and was unable to keep afloat due to the high water current. The 29-year-old from Nevada went under and never resurfaced. Officials from multiple agencies began searching, and the body of the male was discovered about 20 minutes later, nearly 300 yards from his initial entrance of the water. Beaver County Sheriff’s Office is not releasing any further information at this time with victim information being withheld pending family notification. In a press release the Sheriff’s Office reminded the public to use caution and flotation devices when entering water.
