(Ephraim, UT) — A driver killed in a school bus crash near Ephraim has been identified. The collision occurred Friday when a pickup truck struck two buses on U.S. Highway 89. The Utah Highway Patrol says 43-year-old Melvin Beckstead was driving the pickup and was likely fatigued when he swerved into oncoming traffic, hitting the buses carrying students from Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant. Beckstead died in the collision. Eighteen people were injured, though most have since been released from the hospital.
