(Beaver, UT) — America’s largest current fire is closing in on 100-thousand acres in the heart of Utah. The Cottonwood Fire is now at about 94-thousand acres with four-percent containment. About 150 structures of various sizes are now in ashes. Fire officials estimate that another 130 structures are damaged, but still standing. Near Holden, the lightning-caused Wild Goose Fire has now burned 11-thousand acres. Higher humidity levels and lower temperatures are helping firefighters on the front lines. Unfortunately, hotter weather and increased fire activity is expected to ramp up this weekend.
