Construction on the new Sixth District Courthouse in Manti is scheduled to begin this summer. Chris Talbot, State Court Facilities Director, met with the Manti City Council and said bids for the construction of the building will go out in April with a groundbreaking scheduled for late June or early July.
The building will be two-stories tall, housing two courtrooms. Because they were not able to secure all the funding for the building, initially only one of the courtrooms will be finished. There will be a public parking lot with an entrance on 100 North, with an employee parking lot on the south side of the building. A plaza will be developed fronting on Main Street that will include sidewalks, sculpture and landscaping. The historic Bishop’s Storehouse has also been purchased, and the area around it will be improved; however, no changes will be made to the building. Talbot indicated construction is scheduled to be completed in fall or winter of 2024.
