(St. George, UT) — An effort to protect young Utahns online is now in place to begin 2025. The Children’s Device Protection Act went into effect yesterday, which requires the makers of smartphones and tablets to have a filter for keeping kids away from “obscene material.” If a child is under 18, then the filter would automatically be turned on while the device is set up. The measure was passed last session in March following a long process that included multiple amendments. It was approved with overwhelming support in both chambers.
