Central Utah Public Health Department confirms first COVID-19 case in Wayne County

The Central Utah Public Health Department (CUPHD) has confirmed the first positive case of COVID-19 in Wayne County. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the Central Utah Health District to 341.

The individual is between the ages of 1-14 and is currently recovering at home. The individual contracted the virus from exposure to a confirmed COVID-19 case outside of the Central Utah Health District. “COVID19 is still very active in our communities and throughout the state. Although we haven’t seen case counts as high as other areas in the state or country, we continue to see case counts and hospitalizations rise. We encourage individuals to continue to wear masks when in public, practice social distancing, stay home when sick, and take other precautions to limit the spread of COVID-19.” said Nate Selin, CUPHD’s Health Officer.

Close contacts of this confirmed case are being contacted and will be advised to self-quarantine. CUPHD continues to encourage testing for all individuals who are symptomatic for COVID-19. If you have any of the symptoms of COVID-19, CUPHD encourages you to contact a health professional and get a referral to a testing site.
