Six citizens have filed to fill two seats on the Sanpete County Commission. Current Sanpete County Commissioner Scott Bartholomew faces a challenge for seat A by Brandon Armstrong of Fairview. Depending on what happens at the Sanpete County Republican convention, their names may appear on the ballot during the June 28 primary election.
Running for the Sanpete County Commission seat B is Mike Bennett, of Mayfield; Vivian Kunz, of Indianola; Scott Collard, of Fountain Green; and Leon Day, of Fairview. Bennett, Kunz and Collard are all running as Republicans. Day is running on the Utah United party ticket. The seat is currently held by Ed Sunderland, who is not seeking reelection.
Running unopposed in the county is Sheriff Jared Buchanan, who was appointed to fill Sheriff Brian Nielson’s position when he was appointed to head the Utah Department of Corrections. Other uncontested races include County Auditor Stacey Lyon and Linda Christiansen, running unopposed for the County Clerk position.
