Animal activist case may finally have resolution

Two animal activists may be on their way to resolving a case in 6th District Court in Sanpete County that began more than four years ago.  On January 1, 2017, Paul Pickleseimer and Wayne Hsiung were among a group of six members of Direct Action Everywhere who allegedly broke into a Norbest-contracted turkey farm in Sanpete County and removed a sick turkey.  Charges of 3rd degree burglary and theft of livestock were brought against the group, and since then, Pickleseimer and Hsiung are the only two who have not entered into a plea agreement.  There have been multiple delays in the case, partially because of Covid-19 and partially because of similar charges in other parts of the country, but their attorneys appeared before Judge Marvin Bagley on Wednesday and said they have been working diligently on a resolution to the case.  Judge Bagley set May 10 for their entry of plea.
