Vaccine Distribution Plan Update for the Central Utah Health District

There has been a slight change of plans with how the COVID-19 vaccine is going to be distributed throughout the Central Utah Health District. Utah’s new Governor Spencer Cox has shared that he wants the vaccine’s distribution to pick up pace and with that came a couple of changes.

One of the biggest changes is that distribution of the vaccine for individuals 70 years old and older is now going to begin on Monday Jan. 18. Speaking about this change, Alicia Beckstead, with the Central Utah Public Health Department, shared their distribution plan stating that “all the vaccines that we had this week were used to get as many of our k-12 staff done as we could. So we will give around 12-hundred doses throughout our district this week, so we will be about three fourths of the way done with the staff that want the vaccine after this week. Then our allotments that we have throughout the next couple of weeks, we’ll split that between what’s left of that staff that we need to get vaccinated and then we’ll allot the rest for the 70 and over.”

Beckstead also shared than individuals that are in the age group of 70 and older that want to receive a vaccine can contact the Central Utah Public Health department to get onto a waiting list.
