Southern Monroe Mountain Livestock Grazing Authorization Project

Southern Monroe Mountain Livestock Grazing Authorization Project

The Fishlake National Forest is proposing to reauthorize livestock grazing on six allotments located on Monroe Mountain. The Southern Monroe Mountain Livestock Grazing Authorization Project is located in south-central Utah; south of Richfield, west of Koosharem, east Marysvale, and northeast of Circleville.

The six allotments (Dry Lake, Forshea, Kingston, Koosharem, Manning Creek and Rock Springs) are being evaluated through an Environmental Impact Statement that will evaluate and disclose the potential environmental effects from the proposed action and any alternatives that are developed. The 97,260 acres of land in the project area has been used by domestic livestock for over a hundred years.

The public is invited to review the current proposed action and comment during the 45-day comment period. Comments are due on October 26, 2020. Additional information about this project including the proposed action and how to comment can be found on the Fishlake National Forest website at: http://www.fs.usda.gov/projects/fishlake/landmanagement/projects

The Forest will be hosting a public scoping meeting on October 13, 2020 in Richfield, Utah. The Forest will also be hosting a two-day field tour of the six allotments on October 14th and 15th, 2020. If you are interested in attending any of these meetings please contact Emerald Ralston for more details at (435)979-6560 or email emerald.ralston@usda.gov.

The forest anticipates completing the environmental analysis and issuing a final Record of Decision in early 2022.
