Georgia Tech Transfer Evan Cole To Play Final Season At Utah Valley

OREM, Utah-Monday, Georgia Tech men’s basketball graduate transfer Evan Cole signed to play his final season of college basketball at Utah Valley University.

The 6-10 226-pound forward is on pace to graduate May 1 and will enroll in a master’s of public service degree as he arrives at UVU.

Last season, Cole averaged 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game for the 17-14 Yellow Jackets in 2019-20.

Cole chose head coach Mark Madsen’s Wolverines over basketball powers BYU, Seton Hall, Ohio State and Cincinnati, among others.

Madsen called Cole, a native of Cumming, Ga., a “special talent,” who has the versatility to do virtually anything a coach asks him to do.

Cole originally signed with UNC-Wilmington out of high school only to ask for a release when Seahawks coach Kevin Keatts left the program to take over at NC State.

Other recruits in Madsen’s class include former BYU/USU-Eastern Utah guard Blaze Nield, and juco transfers, guard/forward LeTre Darthard (McCook JC, Neb.), sophomore wing Asa McCord (Salt Lake C.C.) and center Trey Farrer (Snow College).
