Sanpete County teen dies in motorcycle crash

A teenager from Sanpete County was killed in a motorcycle crash in Wayne County Easter weekend.

On Saturday Apr. 11 at approximately 7:03 p.m., the Wayne County Sheriff’s office was dispatched to the Burro Wash area located south of Notom, Utah, for a 17 year old male that was involved in a motorcycle accident.

Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was advised that CPR was in progress. Wayne County Deputies arrived on scene and assisted with CPR. National Park Service Rangers, and Utah State Park Ranger, arrived on scene a few minutes later.

It was determined by Deputies that the individual did not survive the injuries that he had sustained in the accident despite life resuscitating measures.

Bystanders stated that the individual was riding on rough terrain when he hit a rock and was thrown from his motorcycle; they stated he was wearing a helmet.

According to a post on the Manti High School Facebook page the victim in the motorcycle crash is named Jabin Taylor, and he was a junior at Manti High School.

Manti High School Resource Officer Kenny Kirkham posted on his official Facebook page that counselors are available at the school Monday, April 13 and as needed for the remainder of the week. He says, “It’s very important if any are feeling sad and are struggling, to please reach out for help.”
