CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Monday, the National Junior College Athletic Association officially confirmed it has canceled its men’s and women’s basketball national championship tournaments.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based organization has officially done this based on recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of Atlanta, released Sunday.
This means that the Salt Lake Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams have had their national championship aspirations dashed as the respective tournaments, the men’s at Hutchinson, Kan. and the women’s at Lubbock, Texas, have been canceled.
The Bruins men’s and women’s squad each won their respective Scenic West Tournament Conference titles this past season.
The SLCC men’s squad also vanquished Eastern Arizona 101-73 March 7 in the District I playoff at the Lifetime Events Center of Taylorsville to get into this position.
