A Korean immigrant drama called “Minari” is one of the breakout hits at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. With exquisite tenderness and simple beauty, it brings to life a classic immigrant tale and a compassionate family drama. The autobiographical film by filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung is based on his childhood when his family moved to rural Arkansas. The American production with dialogue mostly in Korean has some heavyweight backers, including Brad Pitt as an executive producer. It will be released by independent distributor A24 later this year.
