Montague Earns NJCAA, AVCA All-American Honors

EPHRAIM, Utah-After helping lead Snow College to a Region XVIII and Rocky Mountain District championship, freshman middle blocker Lydia Montague is receiving national recognition for her contribution to the Badgers’ outstanding season. Montague, a native of Lehi, Utah (Lehi HS / Club V) has been named to the NJCAA Divison-I All-America first team, as well as the American Volleyball Coaches Association Two-Year College All-America second team. Montague is the second player from Snow College in the past three years to earn All-America citations from both organizations.

The Region XVIII Player of the Year helped lead the Badgers to a school record 32-4 record this season, including a perfect 10-0 clip against conference opponents. The Badgers won the Region XVIII and Rocky Mountain District titles, and earned their second-straight bid to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament.

Montague led the Snow College roster with 327 kills on the season and produced a blistering .394 hitting efficiency. She was credited with a team leading 123 total blocks on the season, including 13 solo blocks and 110 block assists.

Montague produced 11 games during the season with double-digits in kills, including a season-high 21 kills in the Badgers’ 3-1 win over Eastern Arizona. On November 9, Montague was credited with 19 kills on 35 attempts (.486), helping the Badgers clinch the 2019 Scenic West Athletic Conference title and preserve the team’s perfect 10-0 record against league opponents.

The NJCAA All-America team is selected from Division-I members of the National Junior College Athletic Association, while the AVCA All-America teams are selected from all three divisions of the NJCAA, as well as all the two-year programs in the California Community College Athletic Association and the Northwest Athletic Conference.
