TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-Saturday, as the NCAA Division I cross country championships occurred at Indiana State University, a former Panguitch High School star athlete repped the Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network well.
BYU star junior cross country athlete Whittni Orton placed seventh nationally in the women’s 6-K run, posting a time of 20:17.00.
Orton is also the reigning West Coast Conference champion and netted seven points for the Cougars in this event.
The Arkansas Razorbacks were the women’s team national champion, posting an average time of 20:29.00.
Orton’s attainments helped BYU place second overall with an average time of 20:33.00.
The women’s individual champion was New Mexico junior Weini Kelati in a time of 19:47.50.
