Old Navy Fury plane belly landed at the airport in Richfield

Two 50’s era fighter jets flew into Richfield’s municipal airport around 4:00 p.m. on Nov. 14.

One plane was an old MiG and the other an old Navy Fury. Upon landing the pilot of the Fury failed to extend his landing gear.

The Fury then belly landed on the runway, but luckily no one was injured. This particular plane is the only one of its kind remaining, and according to police this is the second time it’s been belly landed.

Crews were able to get the landing gear extended and the jet removed from the runway later the same day.

Richfield City Police Chief Trent Lloyd said that there was no substantial damage to the plane and the pilot plans on having it back in working condition within a few days.
