3-A Semifinals

OREM, Utah-Ryder Lish posted a pair of interceptions, including a clutch one to ice the game in the closing minutes, as the Morgan Trojans outlasted North Sanpete 10-7 Saturday in the 3-A state football semifinals at Mountain View High School. The Trojans scored eight of their 10 points defensively as North Sanpete signal-caller Landon Bowles was called for intentional grounding in his own end zone resulting in a safety.

Additionally, Bowles (11-23, 93 yards, 3 INT’s) was intercepted by Dexter Gilson, who was ruled to have returned this 22 yards for a score. Morgan QB Carter Thackeray threw a 2-point conversion pass to Porter Giles as well for the only offensive points Morgan scored on the day. Gage Thornton (6 car, 41 yards) was Morgan’s leading rusher and the Trojans’ leading receiver was Jack Cameron (3 rec, 34 yards).

The Hawks’ statistical leaders were Payton Clawson (15 car, 72 yards, TD) and Jaxton Langschwager (4 rec, 34 yards).

Connor Jorgensen and Langschwager each had a sack for the Hawks, while Magnus Clawson, Brady Jacobson and Trevor Robinson all had interceptions in the loss for North Sanpete.

Morgan will play for a 3-A state championship Friday at 4:00 pm at Dixie State University in St. George against Juab.

OREM, Utah-Cade Bowring amassed 120 scrimmage yards on 19 touches, posting a four-yard touchdown run and a 26-yard scoring reception as the Juab Wasps outlasted Grantsville 22-20 Saturday in the 3-A state football semifinals at Mountain View High School. Zac Cowan completed 8 of 10 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown while Karder Shepherd added three receptions for 53 yards for the Wasps in the win.

Grantsville nearly pulled off a miraculous comeback behind the magnificence of signal-caller Jackson Sandberg (23-33, 246 yards, 2 TD’s) while he threw scoring tosses to Chace Gipson (3 rec, 63 yards, TD) and Taylor Wood (5 rec, 58 yards, TD). in defeat for the Cowboys.

Juab turned the ball over on downs with 1.5 seconds left, giving Sandberg one last chance. However, Louk Stevens batted down his last-gasp Hail Mary pass attempt, sending the Wasps to the state title game.

2-A Semifinals

OREM, Utah-Kaleb Barney and EJ Allred each had touchdown runs and the Beaver Beavers got past Duchesne 14-7 Saturday in the 2-A state football semifinals at Orem High School. Gavin Davis had a 4-yard touchdown run in the loss for the Eagles. Beaver next plays  Milford Saturday November 16 at 5:00 pm in the 2-A state championship game at Trailblazers Stadium on the campus of Dixie State University in St. George.

OREM, Utah-Bryson Barnes threw a touchdown pass to Zachary Sherwood in the closing seconds as the Milford Tigers bested the Millard Eagles 28-21 in the 2-A state football semifinals at Orem High School Saturday. Barnes also threw touchdown passes to Bret Beebe (26 yards) and Daniel Ruelas (25 yards). Barnes added a 12-yard touchdown run in the win for the Tigers. In defeat, Brooks Myers threw touchdown passes to Sam Marshall and Austin Burraston and Burraston added a 1-yard scoring run in defeat for the Eagles.
