Power out on the north side of Richfield after a teenager crashed their car on their way back from school

Power was out on the north side of Richfield after a teenager crashed their car on their way back to school.

The crash happened on a dirt road just north of the Rocky Mountain Power building in Richfield on Oct. 11.

The teen was reportedly driving their Toyota 4Runner too fast, trying to get back to school after lunch when they lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle knocked over a power pole then rolled down the embankment into the Rocky Mountain Power buildings parking lot hitting a transformer.

Power went out for a lot of the residence on the north side of Richfield, but the power company was quick to respond and got the power back on.

The driver was checked by emergency personnel and sent home with no major injuries.

As of 3 p.m. on the 11th Richfield’s courthouse is closed due to complications caused by the power outage.
