BYU Baseball’s Reid McLaughlin Named As Freshman All-American

PROVO, Utah-Wednesday, BYU relief pitcher Reid McLaughlin was named as a freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball.

The native of Scottsdale, Ariz. posted a 7-1 record and netted four saves on the season for the Cougars.

McLaughlin is the first player in program history to post at least seven wins and amass four saves in the same season.

McLaughlin posted an ERA of 2.61 in 52 innings of work, netting 46 strikeouts against only 11 walks on the season for the Cougars.

He was also named to the West Coast Conference’s all-freshman team earlier this season.

McLaughlin is the 20th freshman in program history to earn freshman All-American honors and the first since outfielder/first baseman Keaton Kringlen in 2016.
