Anna Camp; Kate Sorensen, each advance to the NCAA National Championship Meet Friday

SACRAMENTO, Calif.-Friday, two Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network school alums advanced in the NCAA West regional to national championship competition June 5-8 at Austin, Texas with strong performances in their respective events.

BYU junior women’s distance runner Anna Camp placed sixth in the women’s 800-meter run (2:03.69) quartefinals to advance to the semifinals in this event at Austin.

Camp is a former Millard High star.

Former Gunnison Valley High star hurdler Kate Sorensen, competing for Weber State, placed 10th in the 400-meter hurdles quarterfinals (57.46) tied with Nebraska’s Michaela Peskova.

Additionally, former Panguitch High star, Whittni Orton, will have a chance to join Camp and Sorensen at Austin if she can place in the top 12 in the women’s 1500-meter run Saturday.
