LOGAN, Utah-Thursday, Utah State football linebacker David Woodward was named as one of 42 FBS college football players named to the 2019 Lott IMPACT trophy watch list.
This was announced by the Pacific Club IMPACT foundation.
Woodward is one of 18 linebackers on the watch list for the award, which is presented to FBS college football’s defensive IMPACT player of the year.
Other Mountain West Conference players to be placed on the watch list include Boise State STUD Curtis Weaver and Fresno State linebacker Mykal Walker.
Woodward is a 6-2 230-pound junior out of Olympia, Wash. who earned first-team All-American honors from Pro Football Focus and third-team All-American honors from The Associated Press.
In 2018, he amassed 134 tackles, 5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for a loss, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, three pass breakups and four quarterback hurries.
His exploits also earned him Pro Football Focus’ distinction as the Mountain West Conference’s defensive player of the year.
