Region 18 Track & Field Championship Meet

FILLMORE, Utah-Tueday, the Millard boys and girls track and field squads each took Region 18 titles as they hosted the region championships.

The Millard boys were paced by Parowan, only besting the Rams 170-152. The Eagles and Rams were well ahead of third-place Kanab (104 points). Beaver finished fourth with 90 points, North Sevier placed fifth with 40 points, Enterprise was sixth with 34 points and Gunnison Valley placed seventh with 29 points.

The Millard girls easily outdistanced second-place Parowan 175-118. Enterprise placed third with 99 points. Beaver was fourth with 71 points. Kanab placed fifth with 68 points, North Sevier was sixth with 42 points and Gunnison Valley finished seventh with 34 points.

The boys’ 100-meter dash title was won by Parowan’s Brandon Harris (11.52 seconds).

Lina Biasi of Parowan won the girls’ 100-meter dash title (13.13).

Levi Saylor of Parowan was the boys’ 200-meter dash champion (23 seconds) edging Riley Ogden of North Sevier (23.05).

Kaitlyn Hemond of Beaver won the girls’ 200-meter dash title (26.98 seconds).

Shade Woodard of Millard took the boys’ 400-meter dash crown (51.58 seconds). Woodard showed his impressive versatility by also winning the 1600-meter run title (4:43.93).

Jade Wimmer of Gunnison Valley took the title in the girls’ 400-meter dash (58.10 seconds).

Beaver’s Spencer Williams was the boys’ 800-meter run champion (2:04.12).

Katy Kelly of Millard took the girls’ 800-meter run title (2:30.55) as well as the 1600-meter crown (5:36.23).

Jaren Camp of Millard took the boys’ 3200-meter run crown (10:55.97) edging Woodard (10:56.19).

Audrey Camp of Millard is the girls’ 3200-meter run champion in Region 18 (12:26.96).

Angel Burgess of Enterprise took the girls’ 100-meter hurdles title (16.58 seconds).

Kaden Gale of Parowan (16.22 seconds) edged Kanab’s Justus Waters-Tait (16.46) for the 110-meter hurdles crown.

Jaden Fails of Beaver (42.55 seconds) took the 300-meter hurdles title for the boys.

In the girls’ 300-meter hurdles, Enterprise’s Ellie Shurtliff (48.82 seconds) took the crown, keeping the Shurtliff hurdling tradition of excellence alive and well for the Wolves.

Porter Albrecht of Beaver won the boys’ long jump title (20-02.00) while Rachel Gardner of Enterprise won the girls’ long jump crown (15-07.75).

With a leap of six feet, Kanab’s Sean Gray took the boys’ high jump title.

Millard’s Rylee Miller won the girls’ high jump crown (5 feet-1 inch).

Justus Waters-Tait did earn an individual title for Kanab in the boys’ javelin (155-06.50 feet).

In the girls’ javelin, Millard’s Mary Degraffenreid (111-10) took the Region 18 title.

Treyson Harris of Beaver earned the boys’ shot put title (48-09 feet) as well as the discus crown (138-10).

Gracie Moysh of Gunnison Valley earned the girls’ shot put crown (35-06).

Kalli Jones of Enterprise is the girls’ discus champion in Region 18 (98-05).

In the boys’ 4 x 100 relay, Millard took the crown (45.54 seconds). The Eagles were represented in this event by Alex Wall, Sam Marshal, Graydee Warren and Carson Brunson.

The Parowan Rams took the title in the girls’ 4 x 100 relay (53.64 seconds) as the Rams were paced by Alyssa Ulrich, McKenna Murphy, Gabby Hasemyer and Lily Kerr.

Millard’s boys also won the 4 x 400 relay (3:34:02) as this Eagles team featured John Whitaker, Graydee Warren, Shade Woodard and Nathan Despain.

The Enterprise girls took the 4 x 400 relay crown (4:29.35). In this event, the Wolves were represented by Ellie Shurtliff, Kinley Koopmans, Rachel Gardner and Tressa Carter.

Millard’s boys took the medley relay crown as well (3:46.13) as Graydee Warren, Sam Marshal, Kaleb Dearden and Shade Woodard represented the Eagles in this event.

Finally, Parowan’s girls won the medley relay title (4:41.53). In this event, the Rams were paced by Alyssa Ulrich, Dakota Robinson, McKenna Murphy and Brooke Reed.

Region 15 Track & Field Championship Meet

MANTI, Utah-Tuesday, during the first day of competition at the Region 15 track and field championship meet, amid rainy skies, Manti High hosted this final event before the state track and field championships at Robison Track at Brigham Young University May 17 and 18.

In this meet, the top five finishers in every event qualify for the state championship meet, if they have not already qualified automatically.

In the girls’ 1600-meter run, Grand’s Kylah Ricks took the title (5:35.98). North Sanpete’s Aubry Cook (5:42.54) placed second with Richfield’s Nora Foster (5:44.51), Kate Robinson (5:46.18) and Avery Foster (5:48.54) claiming the three final automatic bids for the state tournament.

In the girls’ 100-meter hurdles, San Juan’s Shae Nielson (16.77 seconds) won the region championship. Melissa Crane of Richfield (17.12) placed second with Sadie Yardley of Richfield (17.33) placing fourth and Manti’s Claira Reynolds (17.71) finishing fifth. Nielson took the girls’ 300-meter hurdles title (49.50 seconds) as well. Tressa Bastian of Richfield placed second in this event (50.08) with Melissa Crane placing third (51.14) and Kenzie Jones of South Sevier finished fourth (51.40).

The boys’ 100-meter hurdles champion in Region 15 is Manti’s Trevor Robinson (16.19 seconds). His teammate, Josh Blauer, placed second (16.29).

In the boys’ high jump, North Sanpete’s Scott Hatch (6 feet-2 inches) took the region championship. Brad Taylor of South Sevier placed second (6 feet) and Jamal Mayoul of North Sanpete finished fifth (5 feet-8 inches).

The girls’ 400-meter dash champion in Region 15 is Richfield’s Passion Reitz (1:03.31). Sharlie Alder of Manti placed third (1:04.78) while Jamie Holt (1:06.10) and Haydn Black (1:06.12) of Richfield placed fourth and fifth, respectively.

The boys’ 1600-meter run champion is Richfield’s Hayden Harward (4:37.96). Orange Peel of North Sanpete placed third (4:46.63) and Nick Woolsey of Richfield finished fifth (4:48.46).

In the boys’ 400-meter dash, Richfield’s Kade Jensen (51.82 seconds) took the title. Jaden Sterner of Manti placed second (53.51) and North Sanpete’s Wyatt Roberts placed fifth (54.97).

In the boys’ shot put, Grand’s Carlin Bierschied (46-06.50) won the Region 15 title. Laramie Roberts (43-05.50) and Mcade Poulson (43-02.00) of North Sanpete finished second and third respectively in this event. Manti’s Spencer Colburn (41-10.00) placed fourth.

The girls’ discus saw San Juan’s Katie Giddings (97-08) take the region crown. Manti’s Breana Barson (97-01) and Naomi Boorman (89-03) placed second and third, respectively. Morgan Blackburn of South Sevier (80-09) finished fifth.

Cale Allred of Emery is the boys’ javelin champion in Region 15 (146-00).

North Sanpete’s Isabelle Hightower won the girls 200-meter dash title (28.38 seconds). Sharlie Alder of Manti placed second (28.70), Richfield’s Passion Reitz placed third (28.79), South Sevier’s Kaizlee Bringhurst placed fourth (29.02 seconds) and Melissa Crane of Richfield placed fifth (29.04 seconds).

In the girls’ long jump, Melissa Crane of Richfield took the title (16-03.00). Passion Reitz of Richfield finished second (16-02.00), Brookell Brindey placed third (15-06.00) and Manti’s Lisle Hammer finished fourth (15-02.50).

In the girls’ medley, Grand took the the region title (4:38.97) while Manti placed second (4:44.38), South Sevier was third (4:48.13) and Richfield placed fourth (4:59.32).

To conclude the first day of competition, Emery’s Braiden Ivie (22.73 seconds) won the boys’ 200-meter dash title for Region 15. Keenan Moulton of Manti placed fourth (24.33) and South Sevier’s Connor Peterson placed fifth (24.53).

Through the first day of competition, Emery’s boys have the lead with 92 points. Grand is second with 73 points, Manti is third with 69 points, North Sanpete is fourth with 52 points and Richfield is fifth with 32 points. San Juan and South Sevier are tied for sixth with 16 points apiece.

For the girls, Richfield is dominating with 95 points, easily outdistancing second-place San Juan, as the Broncos have 55 points. Manti is third with 53 points. South Sevier is fourth with 34 points. North Sanpete is fifth with 30 points. Grand is sixth with 27 points and Emery is in seventh with 12 points.
