OGDEN/SALT LAKE CITY-This weekend, former Gunnison Valley High School track star Kate Sorensen excelled at the Utah/Weber State Spring Classic hosted by both the University of Utah and Weber State University.
Saturday, Sorensen won the women’s 400-meter hurdles championship in a time of 59.03 seconds at the McCarthy Track & Field Stadium at the University of Utah.
Later that afternoon, she ran the anchor leg for a Wildcats’ 4 x 400 relay squad that finished third overall in a time of 3:48.95.
Friday, at Stewart Stadium in Ogden, Sorensen won the women’s 400-meter dash title in a time of 56.17 seconds and placed second in the women’s 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.01 seconds.
Sorensen and her teammates are next in action Thursday through Saturday at the Brian Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University of Azusa, Calif.
