Rain and snowy conditions Friday caused two car accidents on I-70 in Sevier County near Elsinore within a few minutes of each other.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the first accident occurred around 2 p.m. near milepost 30 with a Subaru Outback going Westbound as rain was turning to snow.
According to UHP, the snow was starting to accumulate on the road when the driver attempted to slow down. They lost control, went off the freeway to the right, traveled up the mountain and rolled, finally coming to rest on it’s top.
Two adults had some minor injuries and two kids in the back had no injuries. All were wearing seatbelts.
The second accident took place two minutes later at the same milepost. The five people in the car were also wearing seatbelts. One 73-year-old women was taken to the Sevier Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries to her head.
