Tanker gas spill causes SR 28 clousure

Cars are moving again between Levan and Gunnison after SR 28 was closed most of Saturday.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the driver of the southbound semi was hauling two trailers of gasoline and lost control 7 miles north of Yuba Lake at about 5:30 a.m.

The gasoline from the trailer spilled on the road, but the driver wasn’t injured.

Both the Levan and Nephi fire departments and their hazardous materials teams responded to the incident. The Sevier County hazmat team helped with cleanup.

Drivers were directed to use alternative routs till about 4 p.m. when the road was opened back up.
