OREM, Utah-Friday, Utah Valley University athletic director Vince Otoupal resigned as confirmed by gouvu.com.

In his stead, Dr. Jared Sumsion will serve as the interim athletic director.

Otoupal was the impetus of the Wolverines’ move into the Western Athletic Conference.

Over the course of his five years as athletic director, he oversaw 16 Division I programs at the Orem-based university.

In his tenure, the Wolverines won 14 WAC championships, made five NCAA Tournament appearances and boasted numerous All-Americans in various sports.

Over the course of the past three years, 95 percent of eligible student-athletes graduated at UVU.
