PROVO, Utah-Thursday, BYU men’s basketball returns home after five straight home games to continue West Coast Conference play against the Portland Pilots at the Marriott Center.

This is the Cougars’ first home game since December 12 when they routed Portland State of the Big Sky Conference, 85-66.

The Cougars have made good use of their home-court advantage this season as they are 7-1 at the Marriott Center.

In the Dave Rose (2005-present) era, the Cougars are 194-25 (.886) at the Marriott Center.

The Cougars come into this game at 9-8 (1-1 in WCC play) and score 83.8 points per game while surrendering 79.8 points per contest.

Junior guard TJ Haws has emerged as the Cougars’ leading scorer, amassing 22 points per game.

Junior forward Yoeli Childs posts 17 points and 12 rebounds per game headed into Thursday’s tilt against the Pilots.

The Pilots are 7-9 and 0-1 in conference play headed into this one. Portland scores 71.1 points per game and surrenders 74.3 points per contest.

Portland is led by sophomore guard Marcus Shaver Jr., who averages 14.6 points per game.

Pilots head coach Terry Porter, a former star NBA guard, is seeking to get his squad out of a funk that has seen them lose four of their last five games.
