SALT LAKE CITY-Thursday, Utah football commences its 125th year by hosting neighbor Weber State at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
The Utes have history on their side in this series, as they are 4-0 all-time against the Wildcats, as well as 39-0 all-time against Weber State’s league, the Big Sky Conference.
Utah has also won 10 straight home openers, the last loss in this situation coming in 2007, a 20-12 loss to Air Force.
Furthermore, head coach Kyle Whittingham is 11-2 (.846) in season openers.
The Utes currently have 668 wins in program history. Should they have an undefeated regular season, this would net them exactly 700 wins all-time.
The Wildcats are one of the better teams in the FCS, the lower level of Division I college football, as they are ranked in the FCS’ Top 10, checking in at #8 in the polls.
