Iron Fire Grows To More Than 24-Thousand Acres

(Juab County, UT) — Firefighters continue battling the Iron Fire, which has burned more than 24-thousand acres across Juab, Utah and Tooele counties. As of late last night, the wildfire remains zero-percent contained after growing rapidly over the weekend and forcing evacuations in the town of Eureka and nearby ranch areas. Fire officials say crews have stopped the fire’s advance along Eureka’s border and hope residents may be able to return within the next couple of days. Winds are now pushing the fire east toward Elberta, where residents have been placed on READY status. Officials say no homes have been lost, though several smaller outbuildings have been damaged or destroyed.
