Judge Stays On Parker Kingston Case

Judge Stays On Parker Kingston Case

(St. George, UT) — A judge has denied a request from prosecutors to remove the judge overseeing the rape case against former BYU football player Parker Kingston. Fifth District Court Presiding Judge John Walton ruled that prosecutors failed to show grounds for disqualifying Judge Jay Winward, saying disagreements with judicial decisions should be addressed through the appeals process. Washington County Attorney Jerry Jaeger had argued that Winward’s handling of scheduling decisions created the appearance of favoritism toward Kingston. Walton rejected those arguments and allowed Winward to remain on the case.
