(St. George, UT) — Utah’s new regulations for e-bikes go into effect next Wednesday. The new rules say riders under 21 must wear a helmet and riders under 16 cannot operate the more powerful models that can go over 20 miles per hour. Kids under 8 can’t ride e-bikes on public streets and DUI laws will apply to all e-bike riders. Children between eight and 15 will need a safety certificate unless they’re under adult supervision. In St. George, police say one-third of the crashes that required accident reconstruction involved kids on e-bikes.
