Mt. Pleasant man charged with attempted murder

MT. PLEASANT — A 19-year-old Mt. Pleasant man is facing attempted murder charges after police say he fired multiple shots at a fleeing vehicle following a failed vape transaction with a teenager.

North Sanpete Police Chief Steve Gray called the incident “extremely unprecedented” and out of character for the community, emphasizing it appears to be an isolated act.

Michael Koy Reed was arrested and charged with attempted murder, five counts of felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice, and providing tobacco paraphernalia to a minor.

Police say the incident occurred during the early morning hours of December 12. No injuries were reported.
