There will be new faces in the Manti City offices as two key city officials prepare to retire. At their meeting on October 15, the Manti City Council unanimously approved the Mayor’s choices and hired Jason Brown as City Manager and Matt Gray as City Recorder. They will replace Kent Barton, who has served as city manager for 15 years; and JoAnn Otten, who has worked for the city for the past 32 years. Brown comes to Manti with significant experience managing civil engineering projects, as well as municipal management, most recently serving as City Manager in Beaver for the past nine years. Gray, who lives in Manti, has spent his career working in accounting, finance and quality control management, most recently at ACT Aerospace in Gunnison.
Concerning the upcoming retirements, Mayor Chuck Bigelow noted: “We appreciate the great work Kent and JoAnn have done here and recognize their many contributions to Manty City. We are excited for both Jason and Matt to join the team and believe they have the skills and experience to keep Manti City moving forward.”
Gray will begin his employment next week ahead of Otten’s retirement in December. Brown is expected to begin on December 1st prior to Barton’s retirement on January 15th.
