A new wildfire is burning in Sevier County. According to the Utah Fire Info website, the Monroe Canyon Fire started Sunday afternoon and has already burned 1,250 acres. According to Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis, the fire is burning “right in Monroe Canyon and the roads are closed.” Cabin owners in the Manning Meadows and Magleby’s Reservoir area have been asked to evacuate and search and rescue is out notifying campers and cabins about the fire and encouraging them to evacuate. The Sheriff also shared that “Monrovian, Dry Creek, Upper Box Creek and Monument Mountain have all been closed.” The fire is currently zero percent contained.
