BYU Men’s Basketball To Face Clemson December 9

NEW YORK-Per news released Wednesday, BYU men’s basketball will face Clemson Tuesday December 9 at Madison Square Garden per an announcement from ESPN Events as part of the Jimmy V Classic.

The annual men’s college basketball doubleheader will also feature Florida-Connecticut.

This matchup between the Cougars and Tigers is the first all-time that will not have occurred in the NCAA Tournament.

In those contests, Clemson leads BYU 2-0 all-time, having vanquished the Cougars in the 1980 and 1990 NCAA Tournaments.

The Jimmy V Classic is named in honor of legendary college basketball head coach Jim Valvano who coached at Bucknell (1972-1975), Iona (1975-1980) and NC State (1980-1990) and led the Wolfpack to the 1983 NCAA men’s basketball national championship against Houston on a team which featured current Utah Jazz television analyst Thurl Bailey.

This tournament annually raises money and awareness for the V Foundation for Cancer Research and commenced in 1995. Details regarding ticketing and game times will be revealed at a future date.
