With Scott Collard stepping down from the Sanpete County commission, Republican delegates gathered Monday night to choose an interim commissioner as well as new county party leaders. James Cheney of Fairview emerged as the new interim commissioner and will serve until 2026. Delegates also elected Scott Shulze of Fountain Green as the new county GOP chair and Shauna Watts of Fairview as vice chair.
