New Sixth District Courthouse in Manti dedicated

The newest courthouse in Utah was dedicated during a ceremony on Monday, March 24.  Construction on the Manti Sixth District Courthouse began just 18 months ago and houses two courtrooms for District and Juvenile Court.  Prior to the new courthouse’s construction, Court had been held in the Sanpete County Courthouse, which dated back to the 1930s and presented significant security shortfalls and operational inefficiencies.  The new building features a secure sally port, holding cells and enhanced safety for staff, inmates and the public.

Speakers at the dedication included Utah Senator Derrin Owens, Sanpete County Commissioner Scott Collard, Manti Mayor Chuck Bigelow, Governor Spencer Cox and Utah Chief Justice Matthew Durrant.  Following the speakers, Chief Justice Durrant and Governor Cox conducted a ribbon cutting, officially opening the courthouse for use.
