Region 12
NEPHI, Utah-Karli Jones and Sydney Brown each scored and the Richfield Wildcats blanked Juab 2-0 Tuesday in Region 12 girls soccer play. Zeze Lafaele recorded the shutout in the net for the Wildcats.
2A South
MOAB, Utah-Jayde Young, Gemma Phillips, Ainsleigh Kasprick and Hannah Fisher each scored and the Grand Red Devils doubled up South Sevier 4-2 in 2A South girls soccer play Tuesday. Kennedy Salazar and Shyanne Cornwall each scored in the loss for the Rams.
FILLMORE, Utah-Brinley Jones scored and the San Juan Broncos outlasted Millard 1 (11) – 1 (10) Tuesday in extra time in 2A South girls soccer play. Carley Braman found the net in the loss for the Eagles.
FILLMORE, Utah-Maggie Stephens scored twice and the Millard Eagles downed San Juan 4-1 in 2A South girls soccer play Tuesday. Erika Rios and Riley Davenport also found the net in victory for the Eagles. Oaysis Nielson scored in the loss for the Broncos.
Boys Golf
2A State Tournament
CEDAR CITY, Utah-The South Sevier Rams have a commanding lead after day 1 in the 2A State Tournament at Cedar Ridge Golf Course. The Rams shot a 314 as a team for a 24-stroke lead going in to day 2. Beaver is currently in second place with a 338, followed by a tie for third between Parowan and Waterford at 339. Rowland Hall is fifth with a 346. North Summit, Kanab, Enterprise, American Heritage, Millard and American Leadership Academy all made the cut as a team. North Sevier and Gunnison Valley were among the teams eliminated after day 1.
Individually South Sevier’s Gunner Sorensen has the lead after day 1 by shooting an even par 72, two strokes ahead of Beaver’s Kavin Oakden’s 74. Ray Capson of Kanab and Rowland Hall’s Hudson Darmstandler are tied for third with a 76. Tyler Massey of Parowan rounds out the top five with a 77. McCoy Jones of Enterprise is in sixth, followed by a three way tie for seventh with South Sevier’s Keegan Johnson and Kyson Brown along with McKay Pace of Parowan.
Region 12
STERLING, Utah-The Richfield Wildcats won the final Region 12 tournament of the season Tuesday at Palisade State Park Golf Course by shooting a 313 as a team, 2 strokes ahead of Juab. With the victory for the Wildcats they also secured the Region title. Delta came in third on Tuesday with a 324, followed by Carbon at 328, Emery placed fifth with a 342, Manti was sixth with a 357, North Sanpete took seventh with a 359 and Canyon View rounded out the field with a 370.
Individually Richfield’s Pace Mullen and Juab’s Ty Bender tied for first by each shooting a 75. Braigen McConnell of Richfield placed third with a 77 and there was a tie for fourth with Richfield’s Kaylen Kelsey, Juab’s Crue Cowan, and Carbon’s Dayton King each shooting a 78.
For the final individual Region 12 title, Richfield’s Pace Mullen is the individual medalist with a 508 score, one stroke ahead of second place Ty Bender of Juab. Richfield’s Kaylen Kelsey finished third, followed by Juab’s Crue Cowan and Carbon’s Dayton King rounded out the top five.
