TROPIC, Utah-Antonio Moreno recorded a grand slam and the Bryce Valley Mustangs got past Piute 9-6 in 1A South baseball play Thursday. Luke Andrus drove in two more runs in victory for the Mustangs and earned the win on the mound with two strikeouts in 3.2 innings of work. Ricardo Navarro also drove in a run in victory for Bryce Valley. Brodee Montague and Braige Beus each drove in a run in the loss for the Thunderbirds.
Girls Soccer
Region 12
RICHFIELD, Utah-Sydney Brown scored and the Richfield Wildcats blanked Carbon 1-0 in Region 12 girls soccer play Thursday. Zeze Lafaele recorded the shutout in the net in the win for the Wildcats.
NEPHI, Utah-Addison Ludlow and Elli Abbott each scored and the Juab Wasps doubled up Emery 2-1 Thursday in Region 12 girls soccer play. Megan Stilson scored in the loss for the Spartans.
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Taylie Mickelsen posted a hat trick and the Manti Templars bested Canyon View 3-0 in Region 12 girls soccer play Thursday. Alyssa Whitney earned the shutout in the net for the Templars.
DELTA, Utah-Joslyn Christiansen scored and the Delta Rabbits blanked North Sanpete 1-0 Thursday in Region 12 girls soccer play. Hannah Tasker recorded the shutout in the net for the Rabbits.
Boys Golf
Region 18
DELTA, Utah-The South Sevier Rams won the Region 18 boys golf tournament at Sunset View Golf Course in Delta Thursday by shooting a 328 as a team. The Rams finished six strokes ahead of Beaver’s 334. Millard came in third with a 343, followed by Parowan at 349, Kanab finished fifth with a 359 and Enterprise rounded out the field with a 379.
Individually Parowan’s Tyler Massey placed first with a 77, followed by Kavin Oakden of Beaver and Derk Memmott of Millard who each shot a 78 to tie for second. McKay Pace of Parowan finished fourth with a 79 and South Sevier’s Kyson Brown placed fifth with an 80.
