(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utahns are reacting with shock to the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump this past Saturday. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox on his official X account says the attack was “sickening and horrifying.” Cox added that he and his wife Abby joined with Americans praying for the former President. Utah Senate President Stuart Adams, a Republican, released a statement calling the attack “deeply troubling.” Utah House Speaker Mike Schultz says the shooting represents “a sad day for America” where any type of political violence is not acceptable. Senate Minority Leader and Democrat Luz Escamilla of Salt Lake City says all of Utah’s Democratic officials condemn the attack and this kind of violence.
