PRICE, Utah-Thursday, Region 14 completed its track and field championships at Carbon High School with numerous Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network athletes competing at the peak of their game just in time for the state track and field meet May 18-19 at BYU.
The Juab girls won the region crown with 131 points, overpowering host Carbon, who finished second with 116 points. Delta finished in third with 114 points.
For the boys, Delta edged Juab 130-126 to take the region title.
In the girls’ medley relay, Delta placed second, with Juab taking third.
The boys’ medley relay was won by Delta in a time of 3:45.29. In this event, the Rabbits were represented by Derek Smith, Trey Brough, Jaymen Brough, Dax Brough and Jackson Johnson. Juab also qualified, placing fourth.
In the girls’ long jump, Ronnie Walker of Juab won the region title with a leap of 17-01.50 feet. Delta’s Ashleee Nielson also qualified in this event.
In the girls’ 3200-meter run, Juab’s Maura Williams qualified for the state championship meet by placing third. The boys’ 3200-meter run saw Dason Day of Juab also qualify for state in this event as he finished second overall.
In the girls’ 100-meter hurdles, Delta’s Savannah Nielson placed second while Natalie Tolbert of Juab placed third and Bridgette Christensen of Delta finished fourth, giving all of these athletes a chance to compete at the state meet in this event.
The boys’ 110-meter hurdles Region 14 title was won by Delta’s Jaymen Brough in a time of 15.96 seconds while Macray Stevens of Juab placed second to also qualify in this event.
Ronnie Walker of Juab also won the region crown in the girls’ 100-meter dash with Megan Atkinson of Delta placing second.
Delta’s Dallin Draper won the boys’ 100-meter dash region title in 11.35 seconds with his teammate, Derek Smith placing second. Juab’s Dylan Vonmotz and Dallan West placed third and fourth, respectively.
In the girls’ 4 x 100 relay, Delta took the title by posting a time of 50.95 seconds. The Rabbits starring in this event were Megan Atkinson, Ashlee Nielson, Dani Nielson and Jordyn Nielson. Juab placed second overall in this event.
In the boys’ 4 x 100 relay, Delta took second to qualify in this event.
In the girls’ 400-meter dash, Bayli Heap of Juab placed third and Delta’s Dani Nielson finished fourth overall.
The boys’ 400-meter dash saw a pair of Wasps qualify as Macray Stevens finished second and Brigham Perry placed fourth.
The girls’ 300-meter hurdles champion was Delta’s Savannah Nielson in 48.35 seconds, as Adi Nielson of Delta placed second with Juab’s Natalie Tolbert and Krista Nielson placed third and fourth, respectively.
The boys’ 300-meter hurdles championship was won by Delta’s Jaymen Brough in 40.60 seconds as Macray Stevens of Juab placed second. Trey Brough of Delta placed fourth overall.
The girls’ 800-meter run saw Juab’s LorraLyn Bronson qualify by placing fourth. The boys’ 800-meter run featured Delta’s Dax Brough placing third and his teammate, John McLaws, finishing fourth.
Ronnie Walker of Juab secured another region title, placing first in the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.38 seconds. Dani Nielson of Delta fisnished third, with Jordyn Nielson, her teammate, placing fourth.
The boys’ 200-meter dash saw Dylan Vonmotz of Juab place second as Oran Finlinson of Delta finished third.
In the girls’ 4 x 400 relay, Delta secured the title as the Rabbits posted a time of 4:10.72. The Rabbits in this event were Ashlee Nielson, Quincee Allred, Savannah Nielson and Adi Nielson. Juab placed third overall in the relay.
The boys’ 4 x 400 relay saw Delta place second, while Juab finished third.
The boys’ long jump saw Delta’s Trey Brough finish third. In the boys’ shot put, Juab’s Reece Darrington took the region title with a toss of 44-03.75 feet. Chase Fowles of Delta placed second overall.
The girls’ discus saw Brinley Henrie of Delta place third overall and her teammate, Paityn Callister, finished fourth.
Parley Kay won the boys’ javelin title in Region 14 with a toss of 159-02 feet for Juab as Jackson Rowley finished second and Zac Cowan placed fourth, giving this event a Wasps’ flavor to it.
Finally, in the girls’ high jump, Lillian Reese of Juab took the region crown with a leap of 5 feet 3 inches, with her teammates, Rhiannon West and Brooklynn Hunter placing third and fourth, respectively.
