Just before 5:00 a.m. on June 14, a fire was reported at Delta Middle School. Fire crews from Delta, Fillmore, Hinckley, Oak City, Lynndyl and Leamington responded to the scene where flames were shooting out of the school’s roof. Most of the damage was to the schools gym with Millard School District Superintendent David Styler stating, “the gym is so damaged it may be a year of rebuilding before the space can be used again.” He also shared that disaster clean-up crews should be able to get the rest of the campus clear of smoke and water damage ahead of the 2024-2025 school year. Investigators with the Utah State Fire Marshal’s office are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
